That's based on an estimated $15 million revenue for calendar 1998 which we think GeoCities could exceed if commerce
deals get done. For the six months ending June 30 GeoCities posted $5.5 million revenue.

Lycos (NASDAQ:LCOS) agrees to acquire WhoWhere-Angelfire for $133 million stock in an effort to expand the Lycos network reach. With Tripod and now Angelfire, Lycos becomes one of the largest community-building sites on the Web. Angelfire was the fastest-growing Web site this year so far, followed closely by privately-held XOOM.com, which describes itself as more of a buyer's club community.
Infoseek (NASDAQ:SEEK) agrees to acquire Quando for approximately $17 million stock. Quando creates ecommerce and event directories with licensees including IBM and AOL. This looks like Infoseek's answer to the shopping space that Yahoo and Amazon are vying for.
Inktomi (NASDAQ:INKT) and RealNetworks (NASDAQ:RNWK) combine Inktomi's caching with Real's streaming to enable ISPs to deliver audio video over the Net with reduced network congestion.
Netscape (NASDAQ:NSCP) sells a financial channel sponsorship to Citicorp for a minimum $40 million. The site will feature stocks, quotes, mortgages, banking, etc. A similar deal was struck by Excite last year with Intuit. Look for more "real estate" sales on the top 20 Web sites as sponsors take over the boring banner business, replacing it with compelling commerce and content.
